The story of this tree

In training since it was a sapling, wired and repotted by Luca. The first branches are wired into position, 20 cm tall without the pot in a 10 cm terracotta pot. Photographed on 13 October 2026 after leaf drop, as it ships.

Tilia cordata, the small-leaved lime, is a European native with small heart-shaped leaves that reduce well in a pot and turn yellow in autumn. It buds back strongly on old wood, which makes it a good species for building branch structure from scratch, and it heals cuts quickly. It prefers morning sun with some shade in the hottest weeks and must never dry out. Fully hardy; in a pot, protect the roots only from long hard frost.

The courier was late, but the plant is healthy, thanks also to the excellent packaging. A promising larch with a good line and already good foliage. A vaguely literati style that can be accentuated. It deserves a proper pot. Very satisfied.

FAQs

How is a specimen shipped?
In its pot, with the soil secured and the tree braced inside a rigid box. Delivery across the EU is included in the price. We ship Monday to Wednesday so the tree never spends a weekend in a depot. You can also collect it at our nursery in Merate.
Yes. Every specimen is photographed after its last major styling work and you receive that tree, in that pot. If anything changes before it ships (a branch removed, a repot), we update the photos first.
Any time of year. In the hottest weeks of summer we may hold a shipment for a few days. A tree arriving in winter should go straight to a sheltered spot outdoors, not into a heated room.
Check it in spring: when the branches start to thicken, the wire must come off before it marks the bark.
Yes. It is deciduous; the buds open in spring.
